Casambi and Your BMS — Bridging Wireless Lighting into the Building

Casambi is one of the most capable wireless lighting control platforms available. But in a commercial building, lighting rarely operates in isolation. HVAC, access control, energy metering and occupancy systems all need to talk to each other. This page explains how Exergy bridges Casambi networks into wider building management systems — and why most India Casambi installations miss this step entirely.

The integration gap

Most Casambi installations in India are deployed as standalone lighting control systems — the Casambi app on a phone or tablet, controlling lights. That works well for simple projects. But in a commercial building with a BMS, that approach creates an island. Facility managers end up with one app for lighting, another for HVAC, another for energy — and no single view of the building. Exergy closes that gap. If you're weighing Casambi against a wired alternative, see our Casambi vs KNX comparison.

How we integrate Casambi into your BMS

01

Casambi network commissioned

We design and commission the Casambi wireless lighting network across your building — zones, scenes, schedules, daylight harvesting and occupancy sensing.

02

Gateway connection

A Lithernet or Cloud Gateway bridges the Casambi network to your building's primary protocol — BACnet, KNX, Modbus or DALI-2. Commands and status signals pass in both directions.

03

Unified in Exergy Core™

All systems — lighting, HVAC, energy, occupancy — are visible in one Exergy Core™ dashboard. Facility managers control everything from one screen, not five apps.

Protocols we bridge

KNX

The most common wired protocol in Indian premium commercial projects. Casambi scenes and status pass to KNX via Lithernet gateway. Full bidirectional control.

BACnet

Standard for HVAC and BMS integration. Casambi occupancy and lighting data feeds into BACnet controllers for demand-driven climate control.

DALI-2

For projects with existing DALI infrastructure, Casambi nodes bridge cleanly into DALI-2 backbones without replacing existing drivers.

Modbus

Used in industrial and campus projects. Casambi energy data passes to Modbus-based energy management systems for consolidated reporting.

Why this matters for ESG

When Casambi is integrated into Exergy Core™, lighting energy consumption is automatically sub-metered, logged and reported. That data feeds directly into LEED, GRIHA and ESG reporting — without a separate audit. For building owners with sustainability commitments, this is the difference between claiming efficiency and proving it.

Most Casambi installations in India are deployed as standalone lighting apps. Exergy integrates them into the building.

FAQ

Common questions

Via gateway, yes — Casambi can communicate with any BMS that supports BACnet, KNX, Modbus or DALI-2.

No. The Lithernet gateway sits between the Casambi network and your existing BMS. No replacement required.

Yes — occupancy signals from Casambi sensors pass via gateway to the HVAC BMS, enabling demand-driven ventilation and temperature control.

No — it is a unified dashboard layer that sits above your existing systems, not a replacement for them.
